Mexican Murals

Mexican murals are most closely associated with the big three muralists of Jose Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Diego Rivera. These three artists are said to have brought about the Mexican Mural Renaissance which championed the pre-Spanish roots of the Mexican people. Both Siqueiros and Rivera agreed that instead of confining art to the inside of museums and galleries, it should be made accessible to the people outdoors as well, which led to the history of Mexico being painted onto the walls of public buildings for everybody to see. The Mexican wall mural was born.
