Tuscan Wall Murals
Luca d'Egidio di Ventura, also known as Luca da Cortona and Luca Signorelli is most famous for his renaissance-era Tuscan wall murals.
His most notable work includes “The Deeds of the Antichrist,” a mural in the Orvieto Cathedral referencing a Florentine friar who was executed by the papacy, and depicting the antichrist as he corrupts an Italian city square. Another mural in Orvieto Cathedral is “Resurrection of the Flesh,” which depicts the second coming of Christ.
Despite his number of paintings, Luca Signorelli is considered by most to be a Tuscan muralist because of his work on murals in the Orvieto Cathedral.
